Who Are We?
We are extremely talented individuals from Australia…tall, great looking, supreme Volleyball players, and ultra intelligent. I know, you guessed it already. For those lagging a few steps behind I’ll give you the lowdown.
My name is Lauren Bertolacci, anyone reading from Devos blog knows that I play in Chemnitz, with the Fighting Kangaroos in Germany. I am also a part of the Australian Senior Women’s Team. My boyfriend, another talented fellow, is also assisting me with this little project. OK, more than assisting, but I’ll do most of the writing (and you will thank me for that). Again, for those not from Australia and not reading Devo’s blog, Dave plays in Leipzig Volleyball Club, also in Germany. He’s had his fair stint with the Aussie Junior Teams. Dave lives about an hour away from me, which means we get to spend a bit of time together coming up with mind blowing ideas for this blog.
We have both done degrees in Human Movement (Sports Science), yes we did it together, cheesy I know. I am just starting my Masters in Strength and Conditioning, and Dave is about to start further study as well. I worked for a year as a Strength and Conditioning Coach in Soccer before I started my Pro career, and we have both worked in many gyms. Both of us have a lot of free time between trainings, and basically spend it researching and reading a lot of stuff on Strength and Conditioning, Nutrition and Exercise Science. We figured we love to read it, we may as well get it out there.
Why Are We Doing This?
Well, as I said above, we have time. We also have a very keen interest in the topic and spend a lot of time reading about it anyway. Also, it is ridiculous how little information there is about Volleyball Conditioning available. Not only is information not available, a lot of the time the stuff that is around leaves more to be desired. Sports Science in Australia is awesome, finding it and relating it to Volleyball is a different story. We know this problem exists in Australia, but are starting to realize its similar all over the world. In Aus, if you don’t get a chance to play at the AIS, you can forget about receiving any specialty coaching, or the information you need to take the next step as a Volleyballer. No, this site isn’t going to make you do that, but it might educate you into making some better choices. At least it will be a interesting read.
Why Should You Listen To Us?
By all means, you don’t have too. We know what we are on about (we also have spent A LOT of time with my father, who is a guru in this field, and as you know, talent is hereditary, and I teach Dave everything I know…). Feel free to discuss anything with us, send us emails, leave comments, ask questions, argue, whatever. We want to create some discussion and general knowledge on this topic. We’ll try and post a couple of times a week, start with some basics and work our way through.
Have fun reading
Cheers,
Loz & Dave
For those who really don’t know who we are…

Ok you two love birds… if you’d like some exposure in Spike I want a high resolution copy of that delightful pic above!
Great to see another volleyball related blog starting up… and one that can genuinely help people with their game.
Good luck Loz and Dave.
Hope you both have a Happy New Year.
Josh
Thanks Josh! It’s all cheese we know…hopefully the blog can be an interesting read though. When we look for stuff on this topic we really do struggle to find it.
Cheers,
Loz
Hey Loz/Dave, Can you please send through that pic as soon as possible? About to go to print!
Hello Loz & Dave!
Hope all is well. I know you guys are not as active on here anymore as you used to be. But I was wondering if you could update the link to Volleyball Helpline. We now have a dot com. http://www.VBHelpline.com
appreciate it!
Love and peace!
~ Brooke
Hey Brooke,
Yeah, I’m pretty much looking after the blog for now, and as you can see, not much going on. I’m studying again, so that is my excuse! I will try and keep it ticking over with something new from time to time.
Cheers,
Dave
Well keep it up! Haha. I just wanted to let you guys know that I have been invited to represent the USA in an international tournament in Holland this summer and I will be using the tips on your site to prepare me for it! =]
Thanks!

hey i’m veronica. i’m starting a volleyball team at my school and would like to know if you knew how to make a base to put the poles in. I was hoping you knew how to put cement in tires to hold the poles in place. thanks a bunch
Sorry Veronica, thats beyond my area of expertise.
TThis is not particularly snappy, but I think it cuts to the heart of the argument. ,
